local_file_list List contents of a directory on the user's device. Shows files and subdirectories with sizes and dates. free
local_file_search Search for files by name pattern on the user's device. Supports glob patterns like *.pdf, report*, *.txt. free

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Files are accessed directly in your browser using the File System Access API. They never leave your computer. TaskJin's backend sends commands, and your browser executes them locally.

What browsers support this?

Chrome, Edge, and Brave support the File System Access API. Firefox and Safari do not yet support it. You'll need one of the supported browsers for local file operations.

Do I need to grant access every time?

No. Once you grant folder access in Settings, the permission is persisted in your browser's IndexedDB. It stays active across sessions until you revoke it.

What's free vs paid?

Reading operations (list, search, read) are free for all users. Writing operations (create, delete, move, copy, make directory) require a paid plan — credits or BYOK subscription.

Can it read PDFs and images?

Yes. TaskJin can read text-based files, PDFs, and extract text from images using OCR. The content is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
